One for the girls

GIRLS ONLY - OK..I have a theory I need to share...does anyone think that their UC gets any worse during their period?

I think mine does, but I've only just stumbled across this as I was on the road to a more positive place and bang..now I feel that I have taken several large steps backwards.

So if this is the case, then surely there's a link to changes in my levels of the hormones estrogen and progesterone. I don't really want to go on the pill for various reasons, but I do think that it's interesting that I've noticed a change. I also know for a fact that my mood levels also change during this time.

So lets see what next week brings. I seriously need to get myself back into remission though as this has just been dragging on for far too many months now. I am grateful though that I've made a huge heap of progress in the last 4 weeks though. These monthly glitches will just have to be dealt with. And if any males have read this...just be happy this is one less thing that you have to deal with :D along with your UC!

  1. I definetly feel a difference w/my UC when i'm on my period. For the worse! I also haven't felt as good as I did pregnant in a long time. If they could just shoot me up w/whatever is going on while you're pregnant, i'd be aces.

  2. I'm betting all the boys read this. My UC is ALWAYS worse during that time of month. And when I was pregnant it wasn't as bad, though it wasn't really good either, but I guess it's all relative.

  3. Now that's interesting...so I wonder why the doctors haven't looked more into this side of things also.

It could also get worse at this time for me as I get tired and irritable and that seems to also aggravate my UC.

  4. I don't have UC (reading here because a friend does), but I did notice years ago that I was a little "runny" during my period. I asked my gyn about this, and she said that was normal, that with all that different 'plumbing' squeezed into relatively tight quarters down there, it was normal for cramping, etc. in one area to impact other nearby areas. Pure physics, not to mention the chemistry of the hormonal changes! Ah, it's fun to be a woman! :)
