Thoughts so far on SCD diet
- I can't believe how much weight I have lost so far
- Someone told me that after about 3 weeks I wouldn't crave bread and carbs...we'll see
- I found Almond Flour today, easy when you know where to look
- Found several blogs where people with UC seem to be sympton free
- I'm surprised at how unstressed I feel, even with the extra work of this diet, but that's not to say that I still don't get stressed...now I just don't seem to explode like I used to
Paula...you are awesome! I love that you are giving SCD a shot. You are so right on about the weight loss. I have lost 52 pounds in the last 10 months on SCD. It saved my life. And although the first 8 months were a hellish experience my body is repaying now by letting me live IBD free. It takes time, and effort but when it works it WORKS! Recently I have been enjoying life eating raw fruits and veggies...the first time in one year! The almond flour will fill in the blanks for the cravings and it takes about one month before the carb craving stops, but it really does! Congrats!
ReplyDeletethanks Candice :D ... I'm hoping to see some decent results by the end of the 30 trial..and if that works out then I'm on it for 1-2 years...already I'm seeing some slight improvements, but it way too early to really tell. Thanks for the support :D
ReplyDeleteThough the book says 30 days is enough, it is not enough to know for sure. I had a great first 30 days, better sleep, better energy and all around better. But it took about 8 months for me to see real relief of IBD. I wanted to give up a hundred times, but knew how slow healing can be when you are doing it will food. Even when I had the 3, and 6 month flares I didn't know for sure, then finally it just got better and felt like it happened overnight. At this point I've committed for life since I know it can work. Best of luck you can do it!
