The state of affairs...

So, I'm done with the steroids...finished on Saturday...OMG..scary or what..but I intend to hang in there...unfortunately my resolve to stay away from refined sugar was a bit buggered by Easter, but I did last 1.5 weeks. Did it make a difference...honestly I think not, but I did have a go at least.

Good news is that my UC has gotten no worse and I've lost 1.5 kgs...excellent...and I'm still listening to Listen to Guy's hypnotherapy recording with Geoffrey and have also just got a book and CD from the Paul McKenna collection. Time will tell.

Back to the GI on Tuesday...oh lucky me .... NOT!

Oh and before I go .... a lesson I learnt last week, was not to surf the internet for information that I really do not need to know about right now as all it does is put scary pictures into your head for a procedure you don't yet need!!!

  1. Yeah for getting off the steroids! And good luck! I would do alot better myself at avoiding sugar if it wasn't for all the holidays and birthdays!

  2. Paula,

I'm so glad you are able to go off the steroids. I absolutely hated them! The side effects I experienced from them were not good. You are right. We are going through similar things right now. I'm kind of trying hard to put mind over matter. If I can keep my thoughts positive I'm hoping it will have a positive effect on my UC. We will see. Stay strong! You can do it!!!

And... I know what you mean about the crazy Internet. It's great to find information but some times what I find I wish I wouldn't have. Ugh...

  3. What great news! So glad you are off the steroids. And Easter slayed all of our good eating intentions. I am not going to admit to all I have eaten in the last few days. It was a holiday after all!

  4. Oh darn it! I left a comment and it didn't post. Just my luck. lol

I just wanted to say in answer to your question that I am SO happy with my J pouch. With my UC at it's worst I was going to the bathroom so many times that I never wanted to leave the house because of the fear, I was in so much pain, losing so much blood, and not to mention all the meds!! Who wants prednisone and all that other stuff in them?! It of course got even worse so my colon had to go.

It wasn't pleasant at first, my recovery was slow. In fact, I had so many set backs I spent 6 months in the hospital. But now life is AMAZING! I go to the bathroom 4-6 times a day, no medication at all, and I hardly think about being sick anymore.

I hope things get better for you. UC is such a hard thing to have. I'm here if you need anything.
